The 9th edition of the Marbella 4 Days has been completed. For the M4DW team it was quite a challenge at Plaza del Mar square, in terms of logistics, layout, facilities etc but what a success it was!

From the Plaza you could enjoy a beautiful view over the boulevard and the Mediterranean, nicely decorated with benches and shady areas, easy parking and as a bonus, we enjoyed brilliant sunny weather all week except for one night of rain.

More than 2000 international participants with 18 different nationalities registered for 1, 2, 3 or 4 days of walking and could choose from routes of 10, 20 or 30 kilometers. They were also able to change the distance per day and this option was used extensively so that participants who, for example, had a slight injury could still walk all 4 days or the less trained participants had the chance to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Marbella. The newly added routes of 10 kilometers were even chosen by 23% of all participants.

The first walkers started on Thursday 17 October, traditionally this is the quietest day and the route takes them through green areas and past the luxury yachts that lie in the port of Puerto Banús and the 30-kilometer route went to San Pedro. The following days the walkers saw different parts of Marbella: Altos de Marbella, Nagüeles, Lago de Tortugas, Sierra Blanca and parts of the beach.

All routes were adjusted and optimized this year by our route team that was already busy with signposting and other logistical matters from 4 in the morning during the event.

Fundacíon Cudeca and Cruz Roja were selected as charities. Both during the online registration and on the square they received many donations for which they are really grateful.

Musically we chose a different set-up, the Swing Dixieland Band from the Netherlands was present for the third time and entertained us every day on the square. Early in the morning the band Mitá Mitá came for the warm-up in collaboration with our personal trainer.

From noon the music was provided by the DJ team of MOOOV events in collaboration with a variety of artists; Gypsy Bros – Campell Bass – Ollie Hughes – Manuela Nelom and Ivanildo Kembell and on Saturday afternoon a performance by Ger Vos from the Netherlands sponsored by Intergreen, Interchem and Tieleman kitchens. The square was a party plaza every day where people sang and danced while enjoying a drink. If you’d prefer to relax, you could chill in the cozy lounge corner at caterer Goyo.

Our medical people were very busy providing many walkers with free advice, medical assistance and various massages.

We were honored that a group of the Marine Corps had chosen our event to march for 2 days, impressing those trained women and men in uniform.

On Sunday on the Vía Gladiola in Marbella a gladiolus – symbol of victory – were distributed. On the square, the 4-day walkers received a beautiful M4DW medal.

Next year the Marbella 4 Days will take place on 8 – 9 – 10 – 11 October 2020. This will be the 10th edition of M4DW, where we hope to welcome 2500 participants and make it a great anniversary celebration together. Registration for #m4dw2020 is possible from January 1st 2020.

Soon photo albums, videos and more statistics and facts will be published on this website.

Walk on with hope in your heart and you will never walk alone!
